In the game which caused the most discussion amongst the spectators, the tricky draw between IM Orlov and SM Fisher, which wound up being a very important hold for the Seattle team enroute to the title, took the prize from the Championship.
For the Championship Match, we simply had each judge pick one of the four games played (no finalists), and three out of four, GM Yermolinsky, IM Shen, and FM Troff, voted for Orlov vs Fisher with IM Bartholomew voting for Gorman vs Sinanan.
1st Place: IM Georgi Orlov (SEA) vs SM William Fisher (PHI) 1/2-1/2
Fighting an uphill battle in the endgame, IM Orlov found the nice idea 59. Qe3!, eventually leading to a draw and salvaging a crucial half point for the Sluggers in their Championship win.
IM Victor Shen: The most tense game of the match, if not the most important one. Black was pressing for most of the game until he probably miscalculated a king and pawn ending. Congratulations to Seattle!
FM Kayden Troff: Many congratulations to Seattle on their USCL Championship performance! I felt this game was exciting, and there were some great moves played by both sides! With some craziness in the middle SM Fisher seemed to come out on top, but IM Orlov correctly assessed the King and Pawn endgame with 59. Qe3!, and many moves later a draw was agreed. Neither side able to come out victorious, but for me this was an exciting and grueling battle to finish the 2012 USCL season!
