In yet another crossover from the poker to the chess world, our main sponsor Pokerstars has made yet another foray into the chess community in holding and sponsoring what should be an absolutely amazing chess tournament.
We at the USCL strongly encourage all our players and fans to take part in this event if at all possible. One can only hope that such support will encourage more such events in the future, perhaps even similar such tournaments in the United States, which are so desperately needed. Add to that, Pokerstars’ amazing support towards chess in their sponsorship of the USCL all the way since Season Two, we feel that there simply is no better chess event out there that we can hope that our players and fans will support.
With an already incredibly strong field, featuring three 2700+ players, six 2600+ players, along with many other GMs and IMs, this tournament will certainly not be lacking in formidable opposition. Add to that a sizable prize fund, low entry fee, conditions for titled players, and a very attractive location (an actual vacation destination!), it’s hard to find anything lacking in this chess event.
