In a super exciting game, FM Korley turned in a big upset with the Black pieces topped off with an exciting King walk, netting him a slot in the Game of the Year Contest.
Wildcard #1: GM Mikheil Kekelidze (CON) vs FM Kassa Korley (CAR) 0-1
Arun Sharma: Not really a tough decision as this game had many of the ingredients I look for in a potential candidate for a best game prize: excitement, good play by the winner, and a fair upset. Add to that, the fair uniqueness that it contained with Black unexpectedly walking his King straight to the center of the board with all the major pieces still on the board, and this became a clear choice to add to the Game of the Year mix.
