Baltimore Kingfishers

Welcome to the homepage of the 2005 USCL Champions, the Baltimore Kingfishers, who play their matches at the University of Maryland, Baltimore County.

After a couple of very solid seasons which both saw Baltimore make it to the postseason, the Kingfishers may face a tough challenge in 2011.  The loss of their long time top player and one who has easily been amongst the best in the League, GM Erenburg, would be a tough obstacle for any team to overcome.

Despite this loss, Baltimore still has every reason to be optimistic, having added GM Giorgi Margvelashvili to the 2011 campaign.  While it will likely be difficult for him, as it would for anyone, to fill GM Erenburg's void, the Kingfishers definitely have some increased power on the lower boards which might make them even stronger overall.  With several of their players having improved quite a bit in the last year, in particular, NMs Jared Defibaugh and Ian Schoch, Baltimore has a bevy of strong lineups available which should make them a very strong team still.

While, like every team, only time can really tell if the offseason changes will end up being good or bad for them, if their team can keep making the playoffs, it seems inevitable that the inaugural USCL Champions will eventually once again have their day.
