After two straight seasons of making it all the way to the Championship Match, yet failing by the narrowest of margins to capture the title in either year, the Blitz were likely as hungry as ever in 2009 for their first USCL Championship.  They once again showcased what a dominant team they really are, achieving a very strong regular season record for the fourth consecutive year.  Unfortunately, in the Quarterfinals, against their old foes, the New York Knights, whom they have faced in the Postseason three of the last four years, another very close encounter once again saw Boston on the wrong end of the result, losing in the postseason by the narrowest of margins one more time.

Given how dominant a team they've been for so long, likely they and their fans might be getting tired of the cliche that has likely become so commonplace to them: "wait til next year".  But as usual, their strong season should give them every reason to be proud of themselves, especially being the team far and away with the best collective record in the League over the past few seasons.  The Blitz have a knack for always finding players who really step up at the right moment, achieving their strong 2009 record behind superb performances by GM Eugene Perelshteyn along with two time All Star IM Marc Esserman and 2008 All Star NM Ilya Krasik.  Like many teams, given the tools at their disposal, it's unquestionably just a matter of time before Boston can overcome their Playoff demons to hoist the USCL Championship Trophy.
