But
the
Blitz
have also decided to incorporate a strategy
that seems very commonplace in the league this year in having lineups
where they can really load up on the top three boards by using a very
underrated player, Grant Xu, on
the bottom board. With their longtime board four mainstay, NM Ilya Krasik,
having a much higher league rating this year, this doesn't come as much
of a surprise as the Blitz are one of many teams to be in a position to
keep their opponents' guessing as to whether they will be facing a very
top heavy or balanced lineup in any given week.
Having
been
so
close
to the title several times, it's clear that Boston
isn't lacking any key tool which might further enable their
Championship dreams, simply needing the cards to fall their way when it
matters most. As a team that's unquestionably been amongst the
best in recent years, it seems to be inevitable that they will
eventually do so, and it should be interesting to see if 2010 is the
time when that finally occurs. |
Thanks
to
the
Massachusetts
Chess
Association
for sponsoring the Boston Blitz!
