An eventful draw between two of the top players in the League didn’t quite manage to win GOTW during its time, but the exciting game has nevertheless won a spot in the GOTY Contest.
Wildcard #1: GM Niclas Huschenbeth (BAL) vs GM Julio Becerra (MIA) 1/2-1/2
A natural choice as this game would certainly have been a worthy GOTW due to its very interesting play from both sides, with many attractive tactical shots without any major mistakes from the players. While it didn’t manage to achieve that honor due to the presence of another great game, this seemed like a very easy choice for a wildcard selection.
