Rule to Encourage Female Participation Implemented:
In order to encourage teams
to choose female players for their lineup, the United States Chess
League has implemented bonus points to be awarded to teams that have
more female participation. Currently the average rating for the four
players competing in each match must be under 2400. However if a female
is part of the lineup, the average rating can now be under 2410. If two
females are playing it can be under 2420, and so on. The public loves
to see females play as well as men, and hopefully this rule will help
to promote diversity and make things more interesting for the fans.
