Boston Blitz and American Chess legend join the USCL
---------------------------------------------
by USCL Commissioner - Greg Shahade
---------------------------------------------
One of the greatest chess playing cities and one of the greatest
legends of American chess have joined the United States Chess League
today, as Grandmaster Larry Christiansen will be leading the Boston
Blitz in the USCL. Playing second fiddle to Christiansen will be the
very strong IM, Igor Foygel (2490). Rounding out the squad thus far are
FM Paul MacIntyre (2316), NM Charles Riordan (2272) and Ilya Krasik
(2123), with 3 spots still remaining to be filled by team manager Matt
Phelps.
There should be a bitter rivalry between the Boston Blitz and
the New York Knights, as these cities seem to be rivals in all
competitive realms. Adding excitement to the fued will be the probable
GM vs GM matchup on board 1 with Christiansen representing Boston and
US Championship runner up, GM Alex Stripunsky, representing the New
York Knights.
The Boston logo was revealed today for the first time:
