Wildcard Predictions
--------------------------------------------
by FM Ron Young
--------------------------------------------
Below were the picks for Week 10. Both contestants remained even
with each other, scoring 5 points apiece. There won't be any chance for
Ron to gain the 3 points needed to level the score with Arun, as they
both picked the same results for this week.
Ron's (45 pts) picks were:
New York over PhilLY: 2.5-1.5 WRONG
Baltimore ties Boston: 2-2 WRONG
Carolina over Tennessee: 3-1 CORRECT +2
San Francisco over Miami: 2.5-1.5 WRONG
Dallas ties Seattle: 2-2 EXACT! +3
Season Total: 50 (+5)
Aruns (48 pts) picks were:
New York over Philly 3-1 WRONG
Baltimore over Boston 2.5-1.5 WRONG
Carolina over Tennessee 3-1 CORRECT +2
Miami over San Francisco 2.5-1.5 WRONG
Dallas ties Seattle 2-2 EXACT! +3
Season Total: 53 (+5)
New York Knights (4.5-5.5) vs Carolina Cobras (4.0-6.0)
(New York receives draw odds)
Starts at 7:00 PM ET Time Control - Game 90 with 30 second increment
All the pieces (and flags) fell incredibly into place
last week for Craig’s kids, while Jennifer’s juniors
limped across the finish line with a tie against the
undermanned Masterminds. I have since been hearing a
lot of talk about Carolina having dentistry on its
side. But if this is true, why is Hoekstra the only
Cobra who saw fit to flash his pearly whites in his
official picture? It seems to me we used to hear about
Fischer being a man of dentistry, and we all know what
happened to his teeth. Personally, I think it’s a lot
of hype. I pick New York to win by a point and advance
to the semis.
Dallas Destiny (4.5-5.5) vs Seattle Sluggers (7.0-3.0)
(Seattle receives draw odds)
Starts at 9:00 PM ET Time Control - Game 75 with 30 second increment
While Seattle’s place in the playoffs was never in
doubt, Dallas’s was never out of doubt. Their strong
finish did get them there, though, and now they’re on
equal footing, except for having to give draw odds,
which isn’t nothing. Although some teams have what you
might call a “regular lineup”, Dallas seems to believe
in giving everyone a chance to play. I expect that all
their players will step into the world full of empathy
and understanding, but as far as a competitive
strategy, it’s a little touchy-feely for my comfort. I
therefore pick Seattle to advance. 2-2.
Ron's Picks:
(50 pts)
New York over Carolina: 2.5-1.5
Dallas ties Seattle: 2-2
Arun's Picks:
(53 pts)
New York over Carolina 2.5-1.5
Dallas ties Seattle 2-2
